Mitchell S. Weisbrod, Psy.D., PLLC & Associates is a full-service psychological center offering assessment and treatment to men, women, children, adolescents, couples and families who are experiencing a wide variety of psychological, organic and emotional problems. Our clients come from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds. Virtually all diagnostic categories and symptomology are present in our client caseload. Clients receive either short or long-term interventions and are treated using a variety of evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques best suited to the client’s individual needs. We have extensive training and experience in treating a variety of mental and physical health problems such as: anger management, ADD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress management, irritable bowel syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, and relationship problems to name a few. Clients can be scheduled within two days for therapy.
In addition to therapy, we offer psychological and neuropsychological testing as part of our repertoire of services. We can schedule your patients within two weeks in most cases, and provide complete reports to you within 48-hours (for brief assessments) and two weeks (for longer assessments) after completion of the testing process. Please note that insurance will cover most testing referrals as long as they are medically necessary. Testing for educational or legal purposes is typically not covered by insurance.

Mitchell S. Weisbrod, Psy.D., PLLC & Associates is a Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Magellan and Priority Health approved group practice and is authorized to accept virtually any insurance carrier operating in the State of Michigan. If an individual does not have insurance, a sliding scale goes into effect. Medicare clients are also covered as are Medicaid clients with Meridian Health Plan or Priority Health Medicaid. The current staff includes Dr. Weisbrod, Nancy Lonsberry, MA, LLP, RPT-S and Kristine Hegedus, LLP.
Dr. Weisbrod is a fully Licensed Psychologist in the State of Michigan and brings a wealth of unique experiences to this practice. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology as well as two Masters Degrees, one in clinical psychology and the other in general/experimental psychology. Due to a unique set of circumstances, Dr. Weisbrod was able to dual-track his doctoral program, simultaneously following the clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology curriculum. His doctoral training included three, one year practica in clinical psychology and two, one year practica in clinical neuropsychology. Areas of focus included: The assessment and treatment of psychological disorders for Adults, Children and Families at Midland-Gladwin CMH; Behavioral Medicine at Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center; Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric Neuropsychological Assessment at Central Michigan Community Hospital; Applied Behavioral Analysis and Treatment of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and individuals with Intellectual Deficits at CEI CMH. Pre-doctoral internship included rotations in Adult Inpatient Services and Neuropsychological Assessment at St. Lawrence Hospital; Adult Emergency Services and the Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents at CEI CMH. Postdoctoral Residency included: Applied Behavior Analysis and Treatment, Psychological and Neuropsychological Assessments and outpatient treatment for Children, Adults and Families at Integro, LLC under the direction of Michael Ezzo, Ed.D., Licensed Psychologist and Diplomate in Forensic Neuropsychology. As part of his graduate school training, he completed a number of research fellowships in the areas of child psychology, neuropsychology, psychological assessment and anger management. He is a member in good standing of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and is a lifetime member of Psy Chi, The National Honor Society in Psychology. He has considerable teaching experience at the college level including at Lansing Community College and Central Michigan University. Dr. Weisbrod has co-authored seven articles which were presented to professional psychological groups primarily in the area of neuropsychology. His doctoral research involved creating a program for treating anger management problems in a group setting which has been referred to as a model for treating this type of behavior. During his 20 plus years of professional experience, Dr. Weisbrod has treated diverse client types and virtually all diagnostic categories and presenting problems. He has particular expertise in treating children, adolescents and their families, and has consulted extensively over the years with schools and community agencies that frequently refer clients to him.
Nancy Lonsberry, MA LLP, RPT-S, is a Limited Licensed Psychologist and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with over 20 years of experience working with children, adults, and families. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Western Michigan University. She is one of the founding members of the Michigan Association for Play Therapy. She began her professional work experience with LifeWays (Jackson-Hillsdale Community Mental Health) where she provided services for adults and children with mental illnesses and emotional impairments. In addition to managing an outpatient mental health program before developing her own outpatient clinic, Journeys of Michigan, she provided direct treatment as well as administrative and clinical supervision. Currently, Nancy is providing treatment for children of all ages and their families in private practice. She has experience in treating a myriad of child and adolescent issues including childhood trauma, sexual abuse, behavioral problems, parent-child relationships, attachment, foster care and adoption, child development and emotional impairments. In addition, Nancy provides consultation and supervision for Play Therapists.
Kris Hegedus, MA, LLP has been practicing in the counseling field since 1985 in a variety of milieus. Since 2000, she has been practicing Integro, working with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health issues. She has had specialized training in treating trauma. In 2008, she went through training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an evidence based treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In 2009-2010, she went through Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (TF-CBT), which is an evidence based treatment working with children and adolescents who have been through trauma. Ms. Hegedus has an interest and passion for helping individuals find their way on their journey to health and wholeness. She looks through the full spectrum of health from an emotional, mental, spiritual, social and physical perspective. Kris has recently joined Dr. Mitch Weisbrod’s practice here in Jackson, and is continuing to work with children, adolescents and adults. Kris is active in the Jackson community: she serves in a number of capacities at her church; she is the Board of the Teen Prevention Pregnancy Initiative, on the Wrap-Around community team, on the Board of the Jackson Youth Symphony, and the Board of the Jackson High School Band Boosters. She is married and has a son in college, and a daughter who is a senior at Jackson High School.
